The problem of acid reflux in most people can be controlled by making changes in their diet. Having a proper diet suited for people with acid reflux symptoms can reduce the symptoms and can provide undisturbed sleep. People having acid reflux should avoid certain food and should practice certain good food habits. A diet rich in complex carbohydrates like rice, bread and pasta should be consumed. It is better to have these complex carbohydrates in smaller quantities as they cause weight gain. Do not eat fried items, instead baked or steamed items can be consumed. Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages and carbonated drinks. Decaffeinated tea and coffee and herbal tea will be a better choice as drinks. Though these people can eat meat and fish, avoid cooking it with a lot of grease or oil. Cakes and ice creams should be avoided and instead take cheese and fat free cookies to control the problem.
